Huge Capabilities in a Small Audio Device

From Switzerland comes an extraordinary audio device designed for the blind or visually impaired, but with capabilities that appeal to almost everyone. The Milestone 312 digital voice recorder and MP3 player is the next generation of aids for the blind. It packs all the functions of a voice recorder, music player, text to speech reader, DAISY Audio-Book player, radio, clock, alarm and RFID tagging system into one unit the size of a credit card. This small size makes it very portable, very easy to carry with you wherever you go. Designed to wear on a neck lanyard or carry in a case with a belt loop it will become the aid you don’t want to be without.

The basic version of the Milestone 312 records voices in high quality with the integrated microphone or an external one. You can listen to your recordings over the powerful built-in speaker or over headphones. The integrated music player uses all popular formats so file conversions are no longer necessary. Text files can also be played with the Milestone 312. The built-in text to speech software from Acapela converts and reads text files. It is programmed to play DAISY Audio Books as well as Audible Books and other formats, and no matter what you are listening to, the playback or reading speed can be adjusted to suit personal preference. A radio, clock, alarm and the radio frequency ID tagging system, or RFID, software are also included in the basic version.

They packed all of that capability into one small easy to use package. And, if you need more, there are additional functions that can be purchased as add-ons. One of the additional features is a FAME color reader that is able to identify over 400 colors with precise color resolution and has built-in “color compare” and light strength meter functions. This would be very helpful to coordinate your clothing by color. An additional function is a barcode scanner with a database containing over 1.2 million items. Very helpful to take shopping or to use on the items in your cupboards or refrigerator so you know what you have. Do you need an agenda or appointment book? This is software that is also available for the Milestone 312.
